Why am I being asked for payment?

 Q. I thought I could try the service free but it is asking for a payment to add an extension.

A. The system is not asking for a payment - it is advising you how much the feature will cost monthly if you decide to keep it after the end of the free period.

You may add as many items as you wish and try them free and without commitment until the end of the month. No strings attached
